Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Renaissance Woodworker. As with every year, I was hard at work at my lathe turning out all the little gifts for friends, family, and clients. I haven’t done a turning episode in a while so I thought I would bring you all into my shop and turn some handles. This ice cream scoop came from Craft Supplies and so did the pizza cutter that I show.
Thank you all for watching all year and I look forward to 2010. I hope everyone can get their share of quality shop time this holiday and see you all next year!

Nice teaching. Helpful tips.
Could you share the details about your buffing wheel device? It is variable speed, which is useful. Is this dedicated to your buffing or do you use it also for grinding?
Could you direct us to your source locations for (1) EEE cream (if I have that correctly), (2) your materials added to your wheels, and (3) your wheels? I want to be sure I’m understanding your buffing process.

I got the buffing wheel from Penn State and it is used strictly for buffing. Here is the link. It is not powerful enough for grinding nor is it designed to attach a stone. In addition the stone would have to be really small thereby creating to drastic of a hollow grind. The 3 material applied in sequence are Tripoli, White Diamond Rouge, and Carnuba wax. I have also heard that you can use this machine as a final polish on your turning tools much like a strop. I haven’t tried it personally but sounds like a good idea.
The EEE Ultra Shine cream is a U-Beaut product out of Australia. You can find this at most wood turning supply houses now as it has gained a lot of popularity. I get mine from Penn State here.
