It would be great if you could email me or reply in the thread, the source of the &quot;kit&quot; from which you started.  The knob and ferrule look to be of excellent quality.  

I&#039;m a relatively new turner and also in need of a quality scratch awl.   Seems like this would be a very attainable project, providing a nice tool and some good experience along the way.
